When he retired at the end of the 2018-19 season, Scots forward Colin Shields was Great Britain’s highest goalscorer of the modern era and the all-time leading points scorer in the Elite League. In 17 World Championships – including one in the elite group – and four Olympic Qualifying competitions between 2001 and 2019, Shields scored 42 goals in 95 appearances for GB. In 2017, he was named the Best Forward in Division 1B of the championships when his two goals in the Odyssey Arena took him past Hand on GB’s all-time chart, leaving him only two behind Gerry Davey who set the record in 1948.

Sam Ward is a natural born goal scorer. He finished as the joint-highest scorer with six goals at the 2021 EuroHockey Championships with England before adding five more to his name with GB at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. A huge threat from both open play and penalty corners, Sam has established himself as one of the deadliest attackers in world hockey.
