Cammi Granato was one of the first two women and the first American woman admitted in 2010. The real question is what American records doesn’t Cammi Granato hold? She leads all American skaters with a stat line of 44-34—78 through 43 games at Worlds, and holds the American record for the most goals and most points through any number of World Championships. Her trophy case is impressive too, with nine World Championship medals (8 gold, 1 silver), two Olympic medals (1 gold, 1 silver), and, as we mentioned, became the first American woman nominated and inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Suffice to say, there’s no one more deserving of a spot on Team USA’s all-time starting six than the legend that is Cammi Granato.

Hayley Wickenheiser is widely considered the greatest female hockey player of all time. A four-time Olympic gold medalist, Wickenheiser is Canada’s all-time leader in international goals (168), assists (211), and points (379). She was also the first woman to score a goal in a men’s professional league. At the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Wickenheiser was the tournament’s most valuable player as Team Canada captured its first Olympic gold medal with a 3–2 win over the United States. The Canadians were victorious 4–1 in the gold-medal contest with Wickenheiser once again named tournament MVP, leading the event with 12 assists and 17 points.

However, only one can take home the moniker of “greatest,” and that’s Hayley Wickenheiser. Four Olympic gold medals, seven World Championship gold medals, and she won silver at the initial inclusion of women’s hockey in the Olympics in 1998. Her best performance came in the 2006 Olympics when she scored 17 points at the tournament in just five games. She’s always been dominant, putting up Wayne Gretzky numbers at every big tournament. In total, she has 18 goals and 51 points just at the Olympics. She was the first woman to play full-time professional men’s hockey in a position other than goalie. It was inspiring just to see Wickenheiser try it, playing well to show it was more than a publicity stunt.

Hayley Wickenheiser always upped her game in the Olympics. She was a longtime captain and is in the HHOF. Or perhaps Jenni Hiirikoski. She has one WC MVP and is a nine-time best defender. She also has five Finnish MVPs and six Finnish best D awards. Another option could be Cammi Granato. She had a great NCAA career and was a longtime captain. Plus, she's in the HHOF.
