The first Hockey Club was undoubtedly Blackheath. The oldest record in The Club’s possession is the minute book of 1861 which refers to the subscription being 7/6 and the retiring secretary Mr.R.O’Neill. In the early days, Blackheath Hockey and Football (Rugby) were one club and they did not become separate entities until 1864. Today the Club is part of a thriving sports club operating seven Mens teams, four ladies teams as well as regular mixed, festival, youth and junior teams.

Cambridge University Ice Hockey Club (CUIHC) prides itself as one of the oldest ice hockey clubs in the world. The Club is home to three teams: the men’s blues, the women’s blues and our mixed-gender development team the Huskies. During a typical week, each team has several hours of on-ice training (at Cambridge Ice Arena) as well as off-ice strength and conditioning sessions (at University Sports Centre). All teams play in a corresponding league under the BUIHA (British Universities Ice Hockey Association).
