The arch was lifted into place in 2004 and at 133 metres high, it is the world’s largest single-span roof support. The arch gave it that gravitas and that structural efficiency we were looking for. As Wembley is quite a few miles outside of Central London and we wanted a structure that could be seen from a distance and symbolise a sense of connection with the city.

While Wembley Stadium connected by EE is best known for big footie events like the FA Cup Final and loads of other domestic and international fixtures, it’s so much more as well. The Rugby League Challenge Cup Final takes place at Wembley Stadium every year and a newer addition is the NFL International Series which has made Wembley its home. With a seating capacity of 90,000, whether you’re watching your favourite team win or lose, the atmosphere rolling around the stadium stands is unbelievable. As well as sports, you can also catch some of the world’s best musicians and music events at Wembley Stadium. You might remember the old stadium’s twin towers, unarguably a UK sporting icon all of its own. When the stadium was rebuilt and reopened in 2007 after a new design by Foster and Partners, the towers were replaced with the famous arch that’s now synonymous with Wembley football.
