In hockey culture, the number 99 is sacred - as it's the number of the player widely considered the greatest to touch a sheet of ice: Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky's number has been retired across the National Hockey League, but even though that's just one league, it's generally considered a faux pas to wear the number at any other level of the sport. TSN commentator and former Toronto Maple Leafs player Jeff O'Neill replied under the original post, 'Not allowed 99 in that sport'.

When we said we were going there people were saying, or thinking, why Spoons and we said why not, it’s the perfect place. All our friends go there and the bar staff are great. You always get a few people being snobby about Spoons.
