It was another highly contested encounter, which ended 1-1 at full time.
With the scores level it came down to a shoot-out which India won, scoring all four after GB had scored two but missed two.
Albery and Wallace scored for GB, before Williamson fired wide and Roper’s shot on the reverse was saved, to give India a 4-2 shoot-out win.
India advance to the semi-finals and for Great Britain, sadly their Olympic campaign is over.

Germany prevailed 2-1 over Great Britain men on Friday night. In the end, though, it was a first Olympic defeat of their campaign and, after two disallowed goals, a quarter-final with India. Ruhr sent Payne the wrong way, with a decisive low push to double the lead. With 14 seconds left, Germany held firm as Furlong rattled the post and crossbar.

India even went ahead, through Harmanpreet Singh, and the search for an equaliser resembled the Alamo in the third quarter before Lee Morton, whose two goals against the Netherlands had rescued a point, finally equalised. After the first miss in the shoot-out, Britain’s Phil Roper saw goalkeeper PR Sreejesh smother his shot, sending India, the world No 5, into wild celebrations.
