The Great Britain men’s team [made] their own history as they beat West Germany 3-1 to win gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. After 68 years of waiting, Great Britain's men finally reclaimed the Olympic hockey crown with a stunning victory over Germany in the final. Imran Sherwani scored twice and Kerly bagged another - his eighth of the Games - to seal the victory in a game still widely regarded as one of Britain's greatest Olympic moments of all time.

Winning a hockey gold medal at the Seoul Olympics was a magnificent achievement for the Great Britain team. But while the rest of the squad were celebrating our victory over West Germany, I was whisked away by officials demanding I give a urine sample for a drugs test. We had very little idea the country was in a frenzy following the 3-1 win in the final – courtesy of a couple of goals from Imran Sherwani and one from the great Sean Kerly.
