John Ferguson helped level the contest up for Wigan, before Kenny raced for a 50-metre try and produced a long pass which helped set Henderson Gill off for a famous try to give Wigan a 16-8 lead. Ferguson added his second for the Warriors to edge out to 28-12 before Gary Divorty and James Leuluai’s brace had Hull within four points only to go down to an agonising defeat.
