Liam Kirk agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level deal with the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes selected the 6-foot left winger in the seventh round of the 2018 NHL draft, taking him with the 189th overall pick. Kirk began his career with the Sheffield Steelers of Britain's Elite Ice Hockey League.

The records show that 51 NHL players were born in the United Kingdom and had significant degrees of success in the league. Of these 51 players, three were born in Wales with five coming from Northern Ireland, 21 from Scotland, and 22 from England. Jack ‘Red’ Beattie of Ibstock, England played in the NHL from 1930 to 1939. Adam Brown hailed from Johnstone, Scotland, and played on the left wing for the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, and Boston Bruins between 1941 and 1952. Owen Nolan was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and patrolled the right wing from 1990 to 2010 with the likes of the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Phoenix Coyotes, Calgary Flames, and Minnesota Wild.

Best NHL player to play in our league - Theo Fleury, by a very very long distance. Theo Fleury by a country mile, there have been a few very good players to grace our shores, but Fleury most certainly has done it all. Over 1000 NHL points to his name.
