The bowl that currently sits atop the Stanley Cup is a carefully constructed copy of the original bowl purchased by Lord Stanley in 1893. The original trophy was retired in 1969 because it had become brittle and could be easily damaged. It can be viewed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

The museum offers tons of stuff from the NHL, including the real Stanley Cup. Where else could you get close enough to touch the iconic Stanley cup a piece of sporting folklore? You can get your picture taken with it. The exhibits are regularly updated and the room with the Cup and other award trophies is always awe-inspiring.

Any True Canadian Hockey Fan will be able to tell you there are actually 3 Stanley Cups. The original silver bowl which was first presented in 1892 (and was atop the trophy we`ve all come to love until 1963) will be found on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame (it is too valuable and delicate to go anywhere else). The Presentation Cup... the one the Champions boost above their heads resides also at the Hockey Hall of Fame when not on the road. And the Replica Cup is the stand-in at the Hockey Hall of Fame when The Presentation Cup is on the road (such as with the Winning Team Players for their lucky 24 Hours). So yes, your sons will see THE ORIGINAL STANLEY CUP along with some other modern version (be it the REAL one or the Replica).
