Sam Quek is a retired English professional field hockey player, who represented Great Britain at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Sam started playing hockey when she was at school, part of the team that won the Girls Under 18s Four Nations Invitational Tournament and the 2007 Australian Youth Olympic Festival. Despite not being selected to represent England at the 2012 Olympic Games, Sam played for England at the 2013 Women’s EuroHockey Nations Championships and the 2014 Women’s Hockey World Cup. Since then, Sam has represented her country at various other events, having claimed a European Champion title at the 2015 European Championships.

Sam grew up in Gateshead, moved to Frinton when she was 12/13 and went to University in Norwich where she lived and worked for seven years. Sam started rowing at the University of East Anglia in 2013 where she first fell in love with the sport. She became World Champion in the women’s four in 2022. At Paris 2024 she won a superb silver in the Women’s four with Helen Glover, Esme Booth, and Rebecca Shorten.
