Game 1 of the 2023 Eastern Conference finals provided fans in attendance with more than double the amount of hockey for which they paid. It took until 19:47 of the fourth overtime period for the Florida Panthers to earn the 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Nevertheless, Thursday's marathon contest was not the longest playoff overtime game in NHL history. The 79 minutes, 47 seconds of extra game time was the sixth highest in the league's more than 100 years.

Kicking off at 8am on May 24, the club played for 60 straight hours until 8pm on May 26 – seemingly breaking the previously held record set by the Chelmsford Hockey Club in Essex back in 2016 which saw them play for 56 hours, 18 minutes and 45 seconds. The club believe they have broken two Guinness World Records – subject to verification - for the longest recorded game of field hockey.

The club entered the Guiness Book of World Records in the process, recording the ‘Longest Ever Hockey Match’ when the club staged a 60-hour ‘Hockathon’ on George Lampton’s Playing Fields in 1992.
