Women’s hockey is having a well-deserved moment. The newly-established PWHL has been drawing record-setting attendees and viewers to its games since the league’s inception in January. But a lot of the PWHL’s players still aren’t getting the recognition we think they deserve.

First introduced as a demonstration event in 1920, it took until 1998 for women’s ice hockey to become a full medal event at the Winter Olympics. In 1992, women’s ice hockey was again included as a demonstration event at the Albertville Winter Games. Building on this momentum, women’s ice hockey was approved as an official medal sport for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. Since 1998, women’s Olympic ice hockey has gone from strength to strength. The number of competing nations has grown steadily.

To show all people that ice hockey is no longer a men’s game, women’s ice hockey is growing in France because of the French National Team’s results these past few years, they are now reaching the top level in the world. The fact that it’s difficult to see women’s hockey on TV or even on the internet is a real problem. There is a lack of communication, and lack of interest from clubs, but we don’t think that way. We think that the future of our clubs and sport is in women’s hockey development.
