England Hockey sets the strategic direction for the sport and for the NGB using input from many areas including it’s own permanent staff, the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC), the standing committees and working groups and through interaction with the many volunteers who work for hockey. England Hockey co-ordinates the competition structure throughout the sport and runs the Investec Women’s Hockey League, NOW: Pensions Men’s Hockey League, as well as over 30 national knockout competitions and a whole host of other tournaments. The Development Team (which includes national staff for young people, umpiring, and coaching, together with the 12-strong regional network) co-ordinates the transfer of knowledge of best practice throughout the sport. England Hockey undertakes a lead role in developing the image of the sport, of marketing it and of securing sponsorship packages.

To encourage more people to participate and to stop us from losing people from the sport; we need to collectively work together to make hockey more visible, relevant, and accessible to all. Clubs are at the heart of this mission and are central to providing opportunities for players across all backgrounds and levels of play, supporting volunteers who are essential to helping hockey thrive or welcoming anyone wanting to join our growing 'Hockey family’. We recognise that every club has its own unique set of circumstances, short term priorities and plans and ambitions for longer term development. So, whether you have aspirations to grow, retain or diversify your membership, develop the people who are pivotal to the running of your club, invest in developing your facilities, looking at future financial sustainability or something entirely different, we are here to support your club develop and succeed.

Clubs are at the heart of hockey in England, and therefore an integral part of England Hockey’s strategy.
In this country, we are so fortunate to have such a committed group of over 730 hockey clubs who provide opportunities for everyone involved in the sport to enjoy welcoming, positive, and safe environments.
We want to continue to work together to make hockey more visible, accessible, and relevant for all.
Our aim is to provide support, guidance, tools, advice, ideas, and inspiration to enable clubs to provide an excellent experience for all of their current and potential players and members, and to help them develop further in whatever way suits them.
Looking ahead, we have a real opportunity to grow the game further by working together to share a love of the game with a wider and more diverse audience than ever before.
