They were founded all the way back in October 1864. Being founded this long ago means they are certainly one of the oldest football clubs in the world. It is currently believed that they are the eighth oldest football team in the world. However, not all of the teams that are older than them are professional. There are only two professional teams older than Wrexham AFC. There is no other professional team that is older than Wrexham. This makes the team the third oldest professional team in the world.
