It's been an Olympics to forget for Team GB’s rowers. Team GB's rowers have suffered their worst Olympics since 1976 - and the inquest has already begun. Despite £24.6million of Lottery funding over the last five years, the team managed just two medals at Tokyo 2020, neither of them gold. It ended a dreadful week, a far cry from the table-topping medal hauls at London 2012 and Rio 2016 for one of Britain's best-funded disciplines.

The Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games was Team GB's worst finish in an Olympic medal table. They dropped down to 36th, taking home just one gold medal thanks to the heroics of Matthew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave in the men's coxless pair. Team GB also won eight silver medals and six bronzes during a disappointing showing across the pond.
